Mobile Innovation plans expansion, new solutions for Thai fleet operators
Bangkok-based fleet tracking and management systems company Mobile Innovation plans to expand its business in Vietnam in the near future.
The company's president Tomohisa Matsumura said Mobile Innovation, a joint venture between Japan's NTT Docomo and Thailand's Loxley, would offer innovative solutions in Vietnam such as intelligent fleet tracking and management.
"We will explore opportunities to provide solutions, services and advanced technology from both NTT Docomo and Loxley to the Vietnamese market," Matsumura said. "The market has a big potential and businesses there want to improve the logistics industry. We will also work to promote business between Vietnam and Thailand."
He said the company currently provided a real-time tracking and fleet management system called Fleet Expert. It combines advanced wireless-communication and global positioning system (GPS) technologies with digital maps and comprehensive analysis and management software. It is offered on an application service-provider (ASP) basis.
The system uses a satellite to pinpoint the exact location of vehicles by using GPS. The vehicles are tracked at optimal GPS efficiency and the information is transmitted in real time to Mobile Innovation's server. The information can then be viewed by Fleet Expert customers via the Internet. It appears in the form of a vehicle symbol with fleet status on a digital map.
When any fleet vehicle leaves or enters its designated zones or violates any pre-set rules or regulations, the system pops up an alert on the remote user's screen with an audio alarm. In order to get prompt and appropriate actions from the driver, the alarm is also heard in the fleet vehicle.
Matsumura said the system could detect vehicle motion and therefore ensure immediate security for both drivers and fleet owners. It also helps to optimise fleet resources, maximise productivity, minimise expenditure and enforce safe driving.
Mobile Innovation also plans to provide new mobile-related solutions in Thailand when a 3G mobile infrastructure is completed. These will include an alcohol-check solution, security using videophones and remote monitoring.
"Thailand has many competitors and there is still customer demand, especially in the logistics industry. We want to provide Docomo's service solutions to the Thai market," Matsumura said.
